As you may have heard, we’ve been forced to call off this year’s Jeff Washburn Labor Day Picnic at Kalama’s Heydu Park. Our first priority is the safety of our members, their families and all working people. With the Delta Variant surging through our community, we could not in good conscience put you at risk by holding an in-person event.
That doesn’t mean we won’t be celebrating you - the working people of Southwest Washington and the unions who bring them together - on Labor Day!
We’re planning to show off Southwest Washington’s Union Pride on Monday, September 6th through the Council’s social media channels… and we need YOU to make that happen.
Between now and September 5th snap a photo of yourself celebrating your union membership. Wear your union gear, show us your union card, take a shot at your job site or with your family… show us what it means to be a union member here in Southwest Washington!
Then, send your photos to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and be sure to include
- Your Name
- Your Union and Local
- Your social media “handles” (so we can tag you!)
- Anything you’d like to say about what union membership has meant to you and your family
On Labor Day, we’ll post your photos on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages with the hashtag #SWWAUnionPride. Be sure you’re following us so you see when you photo is posted – and share other people’s you see there.
Let’s show the world that Southwest Washington has Union Pride! Please spread the word to your union friends and family – and start sending those photos in!
