What is a Labor Council?
The AFL-CIO calls State Federations and Central Labor Councils "the heart of the movement."
The Southwest Washington Central Labor Council brings southwest Washington unions from many industries together to take action on local and statewide issues. Our Jurisdiction is Clark, Skamania and West Klickitat Counties.
Our Labor Council is committed to all the hard working people of labor - not just in Southwest Washington, but everywhere. We are dedicated to achieving the highest standards of living, good working conditions and family wage jobs for all.
To this end, our purpose is to bring together the diversity and interests of our many different unions for communication and action on issues of concern to workers and their families. Whether assisting with workplace actions, lobbying for funding, engaging in community service projects, or generally coordinating actions on behalf of a member union, our goal is to promote solidarity among our unions.
We organize, mobilize, and give working families a voice in the local political process.
We partner with state and community organizations and conduct local campaigns to improve the lives of working families in Southwest Washington.
